What is Footprints for Wellbeing?

Footprints for Wellbeing is a one-year project supporting up to 100 adults who are experiencing disadvantage, loneliness, and low to moderate mental health challenges, or who are at risk of developing them.

Delivered in partnership with the Sainsbury Centre and Norfolk Wildlife Trust, the project creates opportunities for participants to explore local heritage sites and natural spaces. These experiences inspire a range of creative workshops and artistic activities, encouraging people to engage with their surroundings in meaningful and positive ways.

How the project supports wellbeing

At Norfolk and Waveney Mind, our recovery-focused approach recognises the strong connection between good mental health, creativity, and a sense of belonging.

By following heritage trails and taking part in creative activities,
participants can:
  • Process difficult experiences and emotions
  • Express feelings that may be hard to put into words
  • Build confidence and resilience
  • Reconnect with themselves and others
  • Develop a stronger sense of identity and wellbeing

Activities and experiences

The project offers opportunities to take part in activities within safe, welcoming, and sociable environments. Participants are encouraged to develop self-care practices that they can continue independently beyond the project, helping to support their long-term wellbeing.

The project includes visits to a range of local heritage and nature sites, including:
  • Local churches and historic buildings
  • The Deep History Coast Trail
  • Cley Marshes Nature Reserve

These visits encourage participants to discover places they may not have explored before while experiencing the positive benefits of nature, creativity, and shared experiences.
