Welcome to Norfolk and Waveney Mind

We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.

We’re Norfolk and Waveney Mind, the mental health charity that believes no one should have to face a mental health problem alone.

We work to reduce the stigma associated with mental health, support people in their recovery and champion better services for all.

We believe that with the right support and resources everybody can create a life that feels meaningful irrespective of the presence of symptoms.

To do this we share our own stories, insights and expertise.

Service update

Our support and wellbeing groups are currently suspended due to lockdown restrictions. This includes our Complex Bereavement Service groups, our Waves programme for people living with Borderline Personality Disorder, and our social development groups.

Some of our groups will be moving online during lockdown and we will post details of these in due course. We look forward to welcoming you back to our face-to-face groups as soon as we are safely able to do so.

If you need urgent help you can call the 24-hour First Response helpline on 0808 196 3494 for immediate advice and support. You can talk to the Samaritans any time on 116 123.

You can find useful links and resources for looking after your mental health during lockdown at

Wellbeing during the pandemic

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak may cause you to feel anxious, stressed, worried, sad, helpless, overwhelmed, confused or angry. It's important to remember it is OK to feel this way and that everyone reacts differently to different events.

REST

REST is a partnership project that brings together mental health support, local services and a place where everyone can feel welcome.

REST stands for Recover, Eat, Support, and Talk, reflecting the different ways we can be more connected in our community.

At the moment we are offering a range of virtual and online support, and our central Norwich REST hub will open in 2021.

REST is commissioned by NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group and brought to you by Norfolk and Waveney Mind, Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, and The Feed.

Side by Side

Side by Side is a supportive online community where you can feel at home talking about your mental health and connect with others who understand what you are going through.

We all know what it's like to struggle sometimes, but now there's a safe place to listen, share and be heard. Whether you're feeling good right now, or having a hard time, it's a safe place to share experiences and listen to others. The community is available to all, 24/7.

Side by Side is moderated daily from 8.30am to midnight.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues, we’re now experiencing a mental health emergency.

More than 16,000 people told leading mental health charity, Mind how the pandemic had affected their mental health. The findings are clear. Prioritising mental health has never been more critical.

Many of us are experiencing problems for the first time and those of us who were already struggling are finding things even harder. Our health and social care services are and will continue to be under pressure like never before. The devasting loss of life, the impact of lockdown, and the inevitable recession will have deep and lasting consequences on all our lives.

Those in power can make the right choices to rebuild services and support to help make sure the society that comes after the pandemic is kinder, fairer and safer. This can only be achieved if the UK Government meets Mind’s five tests for putting mental health at the heart of the new normal.

Now more than ever the nation’s mental health needs protecting. Join Mind’s campaign or find out more at www.mind.org.uk/fivetests
