This year's World Suicide Prevention Day is Thursday 10 September and our campaign is all about hope. By bringing together communities across Norfolk and Waveney we want to raise awareness of suicide prevention, tackling stigma around conversations about support and to inspire hope in all forms, as well as raising vital funds for our local services.

Whether it’s by fundraising, donating or sharing messages of hope, this year for World Suicide Prevention Day we would love as many people as possible to get involved in whatever way you can.

We know that suicide continues to have a devastating impact across our region. Approximately 90 people die by suicide in Norfolk each year, affecting thousands of family members, friends, colleagues and wider community members.

Here’s how to get involved:

We would love to see you do a fundraiser doing anything for 90 minutes your way!
Whether it’s a sports pitch or craft group that brings you hope, we’d love for you to dedicate 90 minutes to supporting us.

Your fundraiser can be on any scale, from something as easy as dedicating your local weekly football match to spreading hope and supporting suicide prevention, or doing your own 90-minute bake off challenge and cake sale.

Fundraise any way you like for 90 minutes, individually, as a team or group or even wider community.

All the campaign information, fundraising support packs and donation pages to help you set up your fundraiser are in the buttons below and ready for you to set up your event.

Hope is here in our communities, and to spread the word far and wide that support is available, and that no one should have to face mental health challenges alone… we need you to spread hope too.

If you spend time in a space that needs hope, we are here for you too! Download any of our campaign posters and leaflets to spread the message or hope. You can also fill out the form below to request fundraising materials – including coasters, stickers, our new Norfolk and Waveney Mind branded football and even your own Hope Lives Here fundraiser pin too!

On The Day:

On World Suicide Prevention Day 10 September, we will be launching our digital hope chain, sharing social media where you find hope, along with our virtual campaign hope pin.

To join in or start your own chain, simply take a photo or video of somewhere, something or someone that brings you hope with the caption ‘hope lives here’.

Hope lives here. Across Norfolk and Waveney.

This World Suicide Prevention Day, text HOPEHERE to 70490 to donate £5 and help remind people that help and hope can be found in Norfolk.

Share what hope looks like to you and nominate three people to pass hope on too 💙 #hopeliveshere @norfolkandwaveneymind

*Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.*

Hope could be a photograph of a person, place, activity, community, pet, landscape or moment that brings comfort, connection or optimism. Wherever you feel it, we’d love to see it!

Every post will help reduce the stigma, sparking meaningful conversations and encouraging people to support local suicide prevention and bereavement services, and make sure as many people as possible know they don’t have to struggle alone.

By filling social media feeds with positive messages, stories and images of hope, we hope that our messages can get to the people that need it right when it can make all the difference.

This September is all about spreading hope and passing it on.

So by fundraising with hope, donating to HOPEHERE and sharing your places and faces of hope, we don’t just hope, we know it will make a huge difference to our local community.
