What is the colour powder made of?
We source our colour powder from The School Run. Their powder is made traditionally, from corn starch and natural vegetable or food-grade dyes. Most importantly, it is non-flammable and non-toxic.
Is the colour powder safe for children?
Yes – the powder is safe for everyone to use. It is recommended that younger children are supervised at all times.
Do I need to wear sunglasses?
We recommend that all participants wear sunglasses to prevent the powder from causing eye irritation. You can bring your own or buy on the day! Alternatively, you can wear a hat or fun wig!
Does the colour powder stain my clothing and running shoes?
Colour powder can stain clothing. We suggest wearing clothing that you don’t mind getting colourful! All participants will receive a white t-shirt to wear for the event. If anything becomes coloured that you would prefer not to, the sooner you wash it the better. Dust off all excess powder before washing with cold water.
Will the colour powder wash out of my hair?
Yes! Rinse your hair with cold water first to remove as much as possible, then wash using a good quality shampoo. You can also use a conditioner/oil before the event - apply liberally to your hair and leave in for the event. This helps create a barrier between the colour powder and your hair.
Can I preserve the colours on my t-shirt?
If you would like to preserve the colour in your running shirt, we recommend:
- Avoid shaking it and remove carefully
- Lay flat and spray with white wine vinegar
- Dry flat and then iron to fix the colour
- Put your t-shirt in a tumble dryer on high for a further 10 minutes to provide added fix
Will the coloured powder affect my phone or camera?
We will have photographers on site to capture the day with photographs made available via Flickr the following week.
If you wish to capture your own photos of your family, we recommend covering cameras/phones with cling film or placing your phone in a zip lock bag, to avoid any damage.
