Consultancy 

One in ten young people experience a mental health issue at any one time.  Suicide is the leading cause of death for those aged 5-19. Record levels of young people are living with a mental health condition. 

Our team have extensive experience in working with education providers to develop protective factors for young people such as greater awareness and suicide first aid procedures. Our consultation is bespoke, but can include:

  • General consultation and review of existing staff policies and strategies.
  • Design, implementation and evaluation of staff and student wellbeing surveys.
  • E-learning - development of bespoke e-learning solutions for example around mental health awareness.
  • Development and delivery of a bespoke package of certified online or face to face training.

Suicide Awareness and Intervention Skills 

We provide introductory and advanced level training in suicide awareness and intervention skills. Certified causes include SuicideTALK, QPR and ASIST.  See our dedicated page for more details. 

 
 
Mental Health Awareness (16+) 3.5 hours (face to face or online)

This 3.5hr hour virtual training course introduces key concepts in mental health. It will develop your understanding of your own and others’ mental health so that you feel confident in supporting people experiencing difficulty. It is suitable for anyone with an interest in mental health and/or supporting others. 

It uses a framework of evidence-based research to help delegates understand how and why poor mental health arises, how to support others, and how to foster good mental health. 

The course includes the opportunity for discussions relevant to the current COVID19 pandemic, and its effect more widely on our mental health. 

The course is delivered live by an experienced trainer and will provide opportunity for delegates to work alongside one another through a series of specially designed activities.  

All attendees receive a resource booklet, access to ongoing support, top up training, networking and events as part of membership to our Mental Health Champion Network.

 
 
 
Youth Mental Health First Aid Champion (16+) One Day (online or face to face)
This nationally recognised qualification from MHFA England is a one-day course which trains people as Youth MHFA Champions, giving them:
  • An understanding of common mental health issues and how they can affect young people. 
  • Lesson plan ideas for teaching wellbeing, resilience and stress management.
  • Ability to spot signs of mental ill health in young people and guide them to a place of support. 
  • Knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness.
  • Skills to support positive wellbeing. 

This is an ideal course for anyone working with young people, but particularly those in educational settings who want to develop peer support groups, or identified Mental Health Champions within their setting. 

 
Format
  • One day face to face or online course. Option with online course to spread sessions over two half days. 
  • Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. 

Resources
Everyone who completes the course will receive:
  • A certificate of attendance and email signature to identify you as a Youth MHFA Champion.
  • A Youth MHFA manual to refer to wheneve they need it. 
  • All attendees also get access to ongoing support, top up training, networking and events as part of membership to our Mental Health Champion Network.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (16+) Two Day (online or face to face)
Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the leading national training for everyone who works with, lives with or support young people aged 8-18.  The course will teach you the skills and confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person, offer first aid and guide them towards the support they need.  In doing so, you can speed up a young person's recovery and stop a mental health issue from getting worse. 
  • Nationally recognised qualification from MHFA England.
  • Certification as a Mental Health First Aider and extensive manual/resources.
  • An in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing. 
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues.  
  • Confidence to reassure and support a young person in distress. 
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening.  
  • Knowledge to help a young person recover their health by guiding them to further support.
  • Ability to support a young person with a long-term mental health issue or disability to thrive. 
  • Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing. 
This is an ideal course for anyone working with young people, but particularly those who want to train staff to become recognised Mental Health First Aiders in their educational settings.
