Mindstock raises thousands for Mind

A groundbreaking celebration of music and art has raised thousands of pounds for Norfolk and Waveney Mind.
The first ever Mindstock festival, which took place at Open in Norwich on 7 September, brought together local bands Adventures By Post, AJQJ, No Story Goes and The Visitors with ten artists. Each artist created a piece inspired by mental health issues for an exhibition forming part of the evening, with all items up for sale in a silent auction to boost the fundraising.
Also part of the exhibition were a poster and album kindly supplied and signed by The Prodigy members Liam Howlett and Maxim, which were also auctioned on the night.
Around 200 people attended the evening, with ticket sales and auction proceeds together raising £3,900. Now plans are already under way to make Mindstock an annual event to raise mental health awareness and funds for Mind.
The idea for Mindstock was suggested by Craig John, a Norwich-based graphic designer and musician, who then worked with a small group of colleagues to stage the event.
He said: “Mindstock has benefited everyone who took part, which is what we wanted it to be. We’ve raised thousands for Norfolk and Waveney Mind, every piece of artwork was sold, the bands enjoyed the experience and we’ve had positive feedback from the audience.”
Co-organiser Gary Millone said: “We hoped Mindstock would be a success, but it has exceeded our expectations. We are delighted to have raised so much money for Mind and are grateful to the bands, artists, audience and everyone who supported us, including The Prodigy, Swallowtail Print, Waxable, and photographers Oliver Hosier and Richard Jarmy.”
