Trusts and foundations play a vital role in our work, with their grants helping us to provide support to local people. On this page you can find out about some of our funders.

Pears Foundation and DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) Community Match Challenge

Mind was selected as one of nine partners to receive just over £1 million funding from Pears Foundation and HM Government to support local Minds working with communities most affected by Covid-19. The fund is part of the £750 million package to help frontline charities and those they support.

Mindfulness sessions

Through the Pears Foundation and DCMS Fund we were able to offer free places for single parents or those with long term physical or emotional health issues on our Nurturing Parents course and 10 free places for those with long-term physical or emotional health conditions on our pioneering new Mindfulness in Challenging Times course.

Eco-therapy

We offered free ‘micro-gardening’ starter kits and online workshops to help people enjoy the wellbeing benefits of gardening even if they don’t have much outdoor space. The ‘Seed To Feed’ virtual workshops included sessions on micro-salads, sprouting seeds, transplanting seedlings, and herb cuttings. Free starter kits of salads and herbs that can be grown in small pots on a windowsill at home were distributed to 22 households in Great Yarmouth.

Our partners at Sanctuary Housing and East Coast College requested a small number of starter packs for individuals meeting the criteria.  They were invited to the online training and offered some compost, seeds and tools.

" I have to say a massive thank you and that it really has changed my attitude about growing things. It has improved my confidence so much and you are a really lovely teacher so thank you. It really has meant a lot to me. "

Craft kits

We distributed personalised craft kits including materials for activities such as card making and mosaic making, along with paints, pastels, and paper. We also distributed willow owl kits which were supported by instruction packs for people to follow at home

" Thank you for doing these sessions - I am enjoying seeing other faces, and hearing other stories. "
