What is Psych Liaison Service?

The Psych Liaison service provides support to vulnerable people accessing A&E who are assessed by the Mental Health Liaison Team and referred onto Mind’s Psych Liaison Team. 

Support is offered for 2-12 weeks via face-to-face meetings; this can be in a café or community setting that is most comfortable and convenient for the client. Support can also be offered via telephone or Zoom if this is more suitable to the client.


Additional service information:
  • The service user is allocated one liaison worker whilst receiving support.
  • ​The service provides a Non-Clinical approach and a relaxed environment.
  • Whilst under the care of Mind’s Psych Team, the service will be person centered and person led.
  • Empower the service user to identify their needs through offering emotional and practical support.
  • Providing tailored support on grounding approaches and mindfulness.
  • Developing day to day transferable life skills.
  • Liaise and refer onto health professionals, vocational and employment support, housing support and so much more!
  • Forward planning for end of service and discharge from the Psych Liaison Team at Norfolk and Waveney Mind. 

Who is Psych Liaison Service for?

Anyone aged 18+ who has been assessed by Mental Health Liaison Teams (MHLT) at hospital and are not currently being supported by Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) or Crisis Resolution Home Treatment (CRHT).

Please note: Anyone currently on the waiting list to be supported by CMHT is eligible to receive support from Psych Liaison Team at Norfolk and Waveney Mind. (Discharge will only be implemented once CMHT have accepted the referral and looking to assign a CMHT worker).

How do I access this service?

Referrals come directly from the mental health liaison teams at Norfolk Norwich University Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and James Paget University Hospital.

Call us on 0300 330 5488 option 1 or email rictriage@norfolkandwaveneymind.org.uk where you will be met by a Recovery Triage Operator who will provide you with further information about this service.
