Local Mental Health Charity provides space for local people to take a Mindful Moment

Local mental health charity, Norfolk and Waveney Mind have partnered with Castle Quarter in Norwich this stress awareness month to promote their ‘Your Mindful Moment’ campaign; an opportunity for members of the public to take a few minutes out of their day to strengthen their focus and help calm their mind.

A shop window in Castle Quarter has been transformed to promote the campaign, raise awareness of the charity and a seat has been provided as a space for people to sit and undertake a simple breathing exercise.

Taking steps to look after your wellbeing can help you deal with pressure and reduce the impact that stress has on your life. The charity hopes that by providing an easy-to-practice relaxation tip, people will be able to incorporate it into their everyday lives.

Rachel Walsh, Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Lead at Norfolk and Waveney Mind said: “We are delighted to have been provided with this opportunity to raise awareness of our charity whilst promoting our Mindful Moment Campaign.

“Exploring relaxation can help you look after yourself when you're feeling stressed or worried.  Relaxation might not remove the cause of your stress or worries. But it can give you a mental break from these feelings and help you refocus. Learning to breathe more deeply can help you feel a lot calmer. It takes just a few minutes and can be done anywhere.”

Gemma Hyde, Marketing Manager at Castle Quarter, commented: “When we’re all racing around for work and getting essential jobs done, it’s easy to let the pressures of daily life build up and get on top of us.  Castle Quarter is a busy place where people come to enjoy their leisure time as well as to shop.  So, we were pleased to work with Norfolk and Waveney Mind to create a spot within the centre where anyone can sit and enjoy a mindful moment.”
