Many people experience a mental health situations that results in an appearance at the accident and emergency department. When this happens, it's important to do several things:
- Take what has happened seriously, and look at why it has happened as best you can.
- Know that you can move forward from what happened and that it doesn't mean you are a bad person, simply that you face some difficulties.
- Draw upon appropriate support to help with improving your wellbeing and reducing your risks.
Our staff provide part of the support available in such situations. We work in partnership with staff at the hospital who you met during your visit.
Our support workers are dedicated to helping people make sense of what has happened to them, trying to help them move forward and assisting in dealing with some of the things that have contributed to current problems.
Once you have been referred to us, we will call you as soon as we can. You don't have to accept our support but we really hope that you will. We are usually able to make a positive difference to the lives of most people we see.
